  • Turning charging into an energy asset

One of the most important milestones of 2025 was the expansion of grid balancing services to home chargers.

Building on Spirii’s existing smart charging capabilities, home chargers across the network actively support the electricity grid by adjusting charging behaviour when needed. This marked a major step toward fully integrating residential EV charging into the wider energy system.

We also introduced programmatic charger control, allowing external energy actors to influence charging behaviour through Spirii. Combined with support for batteries and hybrid energy setups, this enables advanced use cases such as dynamic load management, renewable energy optimisation, and future grid services across markets.

At charging sites, priority charging ensures that selected vehicles, such as fleet, emergency, or other high-importance users — receive guaranteed power when capacity is constrained.

Finally, we introduced a multi-market approach for grid services, enabling Spirii to dynamically bid in charging flexibility across multiple balancing products, such as FCR-D and aFRR, to the market with the highest forecasted value at any given hour. This maximises both grid and commercial value while keeping the charging experience reliable and seamless for drivers.

Reliable charging, powered by stable communication and AI

Reliable charging starts with stable communication and is strengthened by intelligent operations.

In 2025, Spirii continued to invest in a robust communication layer that ensures consistent, correct data exchange between chargers and the platform, even across different hardware brands and OCPP implementations. This stability is essential to the user experience and forms the backbone of everything from daily operations to advanced energy services.

Building on this foundation, Spirii introduced Charger Health, an AI-powered reliability and predictive maintenance solution developed with Lumina and trained on more than three billion charger data logs. By learning what normal operation looks like for each charger and site, the system detects anomalies early and helps prevent issues before they impact drivers. These improvements deliver higher uptime, better transparency, and stronger operational confidence across the network.

    A better experience for drivers

In 2025, Spirii delivered a more reliable, intuitive, and user-friendly charging experience for drivers, both at home and on the road. The app received updated designs and a cleaner interface, making it easier to navigate, plan, and manage charging sessions.

Drivers can now see estimated energy costs based on their personal electricity agreements, helping them better understand and plan home charging expenses. At the same time, expanded facility information at charging locations supports smoother trip planning, showing what’s available on-site, such as parking options or nearby amenities.

Together with partners, Spirii also significantly increased the number of available charge points, giving drivers more choice and a flexible, seamless experience on the road. Behind the scenes, the platform now supports 15-minute energy intervals, aligned with the latest European electricity market updates and future energy optimisation services.

Expanding access and building trust across Europe

2025 was a breakthrough year for roaming at Spirii. With Gireve certification, we significantly expanded our footprint, particularly in France and neighbouring countries, giving drivers access to more charge points directly through Spirii Go and partner-branded apps.

Overall, roaming coverage nearly doubled, reaching more than 950,000 charge points. This growth was driven by the expansion of roaming hubs, new bilateral agreements, and stronger CDR reliability, all of which improved stability and strengthened trust across networks.

Partnerships played a key role in this progress. Our collaboration with ENAPI helped streamline OCPI integrations, simplifying connections with new roaming partners and enabling Spirii to scale coverage efficiently across Europe.

By expanding both reach and reliability, 2025 positioned Spirii as a more connected, trusted, and seamless network for drivers navigating Europe’s growing EV charging landscape.

Building a scalable, API-first charging platform

As Spirii scaled in 2025, our APIs became a strong foundation for partners and large-scale operations.

We expanded our API offering across customer, token, charger, and location management, enabling deeper integrations and more automation directly from partner systems. Token management is allowing eMSPs to create and manage RFIDs, virtual keys, AutoCharge keys, and fuel cards at scale.

A key focus was expanding our operational APIs, giving partners and customers more control from their own platforms. The Location API now supports full CRUD functionality, making it possible to create, update, and delete locations programmatically. Full CRUD support for Locations and Tariffs also supports AFIR requirements and gives operators complete control over site data and pricing.

Core charger operations are now available via API, including remote start, stop, unlock, reboot, and reset. This makes it possible to manage chargers at scale without using the Spirii interface and improves day-to-day operations.

Together, these improvements make Spirii’s APIs a key driver for scalability, uptime, and regulatory compliance.

    Powering fleet charging

In 2025, fleet charging became a core focus, with many of our key platform advancements designed specifically to support fleet operators.

Home charging remained the most convenient option for drivers, and with advanced Home Charging Reimbursements, fleet managers gained full control directly in Spirii Connect. From a single platform, they can manage home and public charging, access detailed consumption data, approve reimbursements, manage users, and ensure compliance—making fleet charging more scalable, transparent, and reliable.

Building on our existing semi-public charging capabilities, we further expanded the depot charging use case for fleets. Operators can now open up their infrastructure in a more controlled and profitable way, with enhanced control over access, pricing, and bookings. This allows depots to maximise charger utilisation while ensuring availability for their own vehicles. At the same time, fleet managers gain full visibility across the entire roaming network, enabling better route planning, advance bookings, and confident charging—whether at the depot or on the road.

    Looking ahead

2025 showed what’s possible when charging, energy, and software come together, turning EV charging into a connected, scalable part of everyday mobility across Europe.

In 2026, Spirii is taking the next step. Building on our foundation in charge point management, we are expanding into a full eMobility and on-the-go charging platform designed for eMSPs and fleets operating across borders. With broader roaming access, deeper network visibility, and granular control over access, pricing, and operations, partners can focus on drivers — not backend complexity. Accelerated by the Edenred partnership, we are building the backbone of eMobility at scale.

The future of charging is reliable, cross-border, and driver-centric. And we’re just getting started ⚡
