How Spirii migrated hundreds of Circle K chargers - fast, remote and disruption-free

When Circle K acquired several hundred DC chargers across four European countries, they needed to rapidly integrate the assets into their own operations. The chargers had to be migrated to a new backend, rebranded, made visible in public apps, and integrated with payment and roaming systems.

It was a major technical transition. The network spanned multiple countries, involved various charger models, and had legacy systems in place. And critically, it all needed to happen without disrupting service for drivers.

That’s where Spirii came in.

A seamless remote migration and rebranding

We worked directly with ABB and Alpitronic, the hardware vendors, to remotely migrate every charger to Spirii’s backend platform. No on-site intervention was needed - saving time and ensuring the process was smooth from start to finish.

Alongside the backend migration, we took over SIM card ownership (while staying on the existing Wireless Logic network) and set up VPN access for secure remote management. All of this was done in parallel to speed up the transition.

The migration rolled out in phases. The first wave in Germany had to be timed precisely due to a local energy contract. After that, we continued in Benelux, working in batches over a few weeks. Rebranding was handled at the same time - Circle K provided the design files, and we uploaded them directly to the chargers through the backend.

Roaming, payments and digital integration

Once the chargers were live on our platform, we ensured they were visible and fully functional in all required systems. That included integration into both the Spirii Go and Circle K Go apps, enabling public visibility and user access.

To support payment and roaming, we implemented a full integration with the Bemo EMP platform, making the chargers accessible to nearly two million EV drivers through roaming networks.

As part of the project, we also developed the Circle K Go app - giving Circle K a branded, user-friendly tool for EV drivers to locate and use chargers across their growing network.

A successful transformation, delivered in record-time

In just over six weeks, Circle K’s newly acquired chargers were fully migrated, rebranded, and brought onto Spirii’s platform – with consistent operational continuity. The result is a unified, future-ready network supported by robust digital tools and backend infrastructure.

This project shows how a well-coordinated, remote-first migration can turn a complex infrastructure handover into a seamless transition for both operators and drivers.
