EDF Denmark & Spirii: Expanding public charging in a fast-growing market

EDF Denmark has rapidly expanded its public charging network across Denmark by focusing on municipal AC charging and strategic DC locations. In partnership with Spirii, EDF operates and scales its network with transparent pricing, high uptime and a simple driver experience, supporting the growing demand for reliable public charging.

About

SK Energi - Spirii partner company

More than three years ago, EDF Denmark entered a rapidly developing public-charging landscape shaped by large municipal tenders. With strong experience working with municipalities by providing street-light infrastructure, they set an ambition to become one of Denmark’s top five charging providers, focusing entirely on public AC and selected DC locations. After winning many tenders in a short period, they needed scalable rollout capacity, strong operational tools and a solid setup for managing pricing, uptime and a growing number of charge points.

Operating and scaling on Spirii’s platform

To support this growth, EDF adopted Spirii’s platform to run and expand their network. Spirii Connect gives them full insight into sessions, consumption, revenue and pricing, with APIs feeding data into their business intelligence systems. For drivers, Spirii Go provides simple, subscription-free access with transparent and dynamic pricing.

This setup enables EDF to efficiently develop new municipal AC sites and expand DC infrastructure along key travel corridors. They also introduced site concepts that improve practicality for larger vehicles, including two locations specifically built to accommodate EVs with trailers: Langeskov and their most recent addition, Korsør.

A strengthening national footprint and smarter site designs

Today, in the beginning of 2026, EDF operates close to 2,000 outlets, with a strong presence on Sjælland and in Copenhagen and growing coverage in Aarhus, Esbjerg and on Fyn. Around 90 percent of the network consists of AC charge points supported by an expanding portfolio of DC sites.

Their newest strategic hub, Korsør, features 19 Kempower standalone DC outlets that support 800 V and up to 400 kW. The site is constructed to double its capacity with space for 19 additional outlets, and the layout is designed to comfortably accommodate vehicles with trailers.

A shared focus on simplicity and reliability

For Spirii Go users, EDF sites offer dependable, well-located charging with clear pricing and no subscriptions. Looking ahead, EDF Denmark will continue expanding DC coverage, keeping pricing transparent and ensuring consistently high uptime, supported by close collaboration with Spirii to meet the needs of Denmark’s growing EV population.
