2025 wrapped: The year eMobility finally grew up

As the year is winding down, we’re looking back at a standout year where eMobility stepped out of its teenage growth spurt and moved closer to full maturity.

Summary
  • Partner and network growth: We welcomed a strong wave of new customers and partners across Europe and expanded our roaming ecosystem to more than 900,000 connected charge points, improving cross-border access.
  • Heavy-duty momentum: We strengthened our position in heavy-duty charging through landmark partnerships, most notably with Daimler Truck to power the TruckCharge Network across Europe, alongside ZE Ports and Travis, helping lower barriers to fleet electrification.
  • AI-powered reliability: We co-developed and integrated Charger Health, an AI-powered maintenance tool that improves uptime, reduces downtime, and boosts operational efficiency.
  • Looking ahead: Together with Edenred, we’re all set to scale across Europe and Latin America and support the electric transition with our advanced eMobility platform supporting both CPOs and eMSPs

As the year is winding down, we’re looking back at a standout year where eMobility stepped out of its teenage growth spurt and moved closer to full maturity.

Battery-electric vehicles now account for one in six new cars across Europe. And while the electric truck segment is still finding its footing, the medium-duty and bus segments did make headway.

Europe’s charging network also kept up the pace, passing one million public charging points, with the Netherlands, Germany, France and the UK carrying most of the load.

But 2025 wasn’t just about putting chargers in the ground. We witnessed firsthand how the industry shifted toward creating real value by pairing charging infrastructure with intelligent software, enabling smarter charging, better energy management, and new grid-service revenue opportunities.

At the same time, ongoing market consolidation made it clear that staying ahead of market and technology trends is key to enduring and scaling - which creates an even greater need for fewer, stronger platforms designed to integrate across the value chain and grow with their customers.

In other words, eMobility is now riding the third wave – where the real magic happens!

Scaling impact with our partners

But no magic without partners and this year, we saw plenty of joint efforts turning big ambitions into real progress.

While the heavy-duty segment is still in the early market stage, a lot happened in the Spirii fold that prepped the ground for strong momentum in the year ahead.

A defining moment was of course our partnership with Daimler Truck. We’re extremely proud that Spirii has been selected as the platform partner, powering the TruckCharge Network – a new semi-public charging network for heavy-duty trucks across Europe.

Built on Spirii’s platform technology, the TruckCharge Network enables depot owners to manage and monetise their charging capacity through our Charge Point Management System (CPMS), while allowing fleet operators to easily find, pre-book, and access chargers using our new eMobility Service Provider (eMSP) solution. Safe to say, we’re excited to kick off the rollout in 2026!

In partnership with ZE Ports, we also made life easier and cheaper for heavy-duty fleet operators with an all-in-one electrification service for heavy transport including vehicle and infrastructure rentals, enabling fleet owners to electrify their operations without owning vehicles or infrastructure.

Our partnership with Travis added even more convenience to the heavy-duty segment by launching a full-service truck charging solution, combining infrastructure development with booking and payment services.

Beyond heavy-duty, we were happy to welcome a strong group of new partners - with Yespark in France standing out in volume – and partners like Clevenergy, iPlanet, Tellus, and Solutions30 expanding both our geographic reach and service offerings.

We also saw strong momentum across our roaming ecosystem. In 2025, Spirii’s roaming network expanded to more than 900,000 connected charge points through a combination of roaming hubs and direct bilateral agreements. Partnerships with hubs such as Gireve, together with direct integrations, provide reliable cross-border access, making it easier for drivers using Spirii Go or partner-branded apps to charge across Europe while increasing utilisation across public networks.

Boosting charger reliability with AI monitoring

AI was everywhere in 2025, and for Spirii it is core to our continued focus on enhanced product offerings and customer success. Together with the Danish startup Lumina, we developed and integrated Charger Health, an AI-powered maintenance tool trained on billions of data points from our Charge Point Management System, enabling us to spot issues early and resolve them before they disrupt operations or drivers.

Since deployment, we’ve seen a clear reduction in offline state durations and are resolving far more support cases than before. As a result, less time is spent chasing recurring issues, allowing us to focus on high-value work that improves the driver experience, with smoother charging, higher utilisation, and greater efficiency. And we’re only getting started.

Looking ahead to 2026

As we head into 2026 with stronger partnerships and a broader product ecosystem than ever, expectations are high and the bar has been raised accordingly. Together with our parent company, Edenred, we’re committed to continued expansion across Europe and Latin America, fully equipped to support fleet transitions through our new eMobility Service Provider (eMSP) solution and set a new standard for eMobility.

Building on our foundation in charge point management, we’re excited to expand beyond it, providing broader roaming access, deeper network visibility, and granular control. This enables eMSPs to fully own the driver experience, from network oversight and access control to tailored deals, pricing, invoicing, and day-to-day operations.

Looking slightly further ahead, vehicle-to-grid (V2G) and other bidirectional technologies are edging closer to commercial reality. Once fully in motion, V2G will allow EVs to act as mobile energy storage units, feeding power back into the grid when needed and unlocking new revenue opportunities and flexibility for users and operators.

Through our participation in EU-funded projects such as FLOW and AHEAD, we see how grid services and V2G are developing in practice before they reach the market, giving us a strong market position in guiding partners through an EV charging landscape that’s changing faster than ever.

Bring it on, 2026. We’re fully charged and ready to power the next wave.
